Position
[These are only stream-of-consciousness notes. Not polished and not very clear. Not to be taken too seriously.]
- humanity is developing all the time. No point fighting it. Photography was once the object of painters' hatred. Now it's a respected art form.
- the future I want to get to is one where everything that can be shared digitally would be fair game to use, modify, and share again, modified or not. Every means on the table. Peer-to-peer networks and every distributed method there is. We wouldn't need servers at all if every person in the world stored and shared 0.1% of their storage space for other people's data. The same data would be on tens of thousands of devices, so the odds of it vanishing completely would be nonexistent.
- all of humanity's rules and copyrights and laws and money are just human imagination, so that we could do some kind of cooperation.
We can cooperate a lot more efficiently and more pleasantly and in ways that benefit everyone more.
Let's redesign humanity from scratch.
Meanwhile though. I need to live in this current reality. Sigh.
